Traffic around the river has been congested to say the least since a fire closed the southbound lanes of Interstate 471 at the Daniel Carter Beard Bridge two weeks ago.
A recent report released by the Ohio-Kentucky-Indiana Regional Council of Governments (OKI) shows that the Taylor Southgate and Brent Spence Bridges on U.S. Route 27 are seeing the highest increase in traffic since the fire. It became clear.
“If you look at the Wednesday before the fire, Oct. 30, and the Wednesday after the fire, Nov. 6, there were more than 18,500 vehicles on Route 27, more than 14,800 vehicles on the Brent Spence Bridge, and more than 14,800 vehicles on southbound roads. Traffic has increased,” OKI said. Traffic engineer Jerson Paschal shared his findings at a recent OKI board meeting.
Overall, the number of bridge crossings has decreased by 10% since the fire.
