It's a little hard to believe that we've been covering the iconic Tichonic Bridge replacement for the better part of two years.
A $50 million project to replace the 100-year-old Tichonic Bridge began in March 2023. The project is expected to be completed in late 2026 or early 2027.
When project details were first announced, we received word that this span would need to be completely closed for several months. In October 2024, we received word that the bridge would be closed for approximately seven months this winter. The project schedule at the time called for the bridge to be closed from Dec. 16, 2024 to June 20, 2025.
Tyconic Bridge Timeline Latest Information
KJ says that timeline is currently being updated. An article published on the newspaper's website states that the bridge will be permanently closed from January 6, 2025. The bridge is expected to be completely closed for approximately six months.
While the bridge is closed, traffic will be diverted via the Carter Memorial Bridge. Of course, you can always cross the Two Cents Bridge on foot, weather permitting.
