HomeEquity Bank, which offers CHIP reverse mortgages in honor of Canadian veterans who served their country in the Canadian Armed Forces, is a proud supporting partner of the Digital Poppy Campaign for the sixth year in a row.
This year, Home Equity Bank is hosting an Encounter with the Past campaign, inviting people to experience a week in wartime to remember the many sacrifices made by Canada's veterans. This campaign will send authentic calendar invitations from the past, allowing Canadians to attend conferences held during important Canadian battles from past wars.
These meetings are narrated by experts with backgrounds in history and wartime documentaries. The conference is hosted at MeetingWithThePast.com, where a week in a soldier's life is displayed through an interactive calendar, allowing Canadians to experience first-hand the horrors and hardships they faced. In memory of so many sacrifices, Canadians are encouraged to donate a digital poppy to support the Legion National Foundation.
Created in partnership with Zulu Alpha Kilo, the idea was born from the realization that it was possible to send authentic conference invitations from many years ago, even as far back as 1917 during World War I. Ta. “Juxtaposing the types of meetings we have now with what Canadian soldiers face on a daily basis felt like a powerful reminder of the sacrifices of our veterans,” said Zulu Alpha Kilo. said Brian Murray, Chief Creative Officer.
This experience includes videos featuring three major battles in which Canadian troops played a key role: the Battle of the Somme, the Liberation of the Netherlands, and the D-Day conference.
The campaign also includes a launch campaign video that will air nationwide starting October 28th, and will also air on HomeEquity Bank and The Legion National Foundations social channels.
The Digital Poppy Campaign and Encounters with the Past are two ways the Legion National Foundation and Home Equity Bank are bringing Remembrance Day into the digital age and into the hearts of younger generations. Canadians can visit MeetingWithThePast.com to learn more about the Digital Poppy campaign and how they can donate to support Canada's veterans.
