Analysts at Citi predict the Federal Reserve could cut interest rates by 200 basis points over eight meetings through the summer of 2025 as the U.S. economy cools. Los Angeles, California: The average interest rate on a 30-year mortgage rose this week for the first time since late May, increasing the cost of borrowing money for a home. Freddie Mac reported that interest rates rose to 6.95% from 6.86% last week. Rates averaged 6.81% a year ago.
