When a studio like A24 announces a project called “The Curse,” you're probably expecting something a little like “Talk to Me.” However, A24's “The Curse” is actually an upcoming TV series from Showtime and Paramount+. It is co-created and executive produced by Benny Safdie and Nathan Fielder. “The Curse” is “a genre-bending series that follows newlywed couple Emma Stone and Nathan Fielder as they try to have a child while co-starring in a new home improvement show, and a curse disrupts their relationship.” You can see the first key art for “The Curse” here, as well as the first trailer for the series.
The Curse is a 10-episode series, but the trailer gives us a pretty good idea of what's to come. The series will premiere streaming and on-demand for Paramount+ subscribers on the Paramount+ with Showtime plan on Friday, November 10. It will then premiere on Showtime on Sunday, November 12 at 10pm ET/PT. The Curse will have its world premiere on Thursday, October 12 at the 2023 New York Film Festival, where the first three episodes of the series will be screened.

From the first trailer, it looks like “The Curse” is parodying, at least in part, the recent trend of reality “house flipping” shows that have become mainstream on cable TV. The new series will feature husband and wife Asher and Whitney Siegel (Stone and Fielder) as an HGTV-style show called “Flipanthropy.” The premise is that they plan to flip low-income homes and help the residents. But judging from the trailer for “The Curse,” it seems like the duo is mostly interested in getting ratings for their new series and becoming famous. Then, a horrifying incident with a local kid happens right in front of the cameras, which causes their whole reality show endeavor to crumble, especially since the kid in question actually puts a curse on them. We really can't wait to see this fantastic disaster unfold.
