A busy section of Interstate 89 will be closed overnight next week as crews replace an aging bridge. The Vermont Department of Transportation announced that construction of the new U.S. 2 bridge over Interstate 89 will require crews to close Exit 17 for five days this month. Starting Sunday, November 17, all traffic will be diverted from Exit 17 from 7pm to 6am. This means all northbound and southbound traffic will be rerouted during these times. Construction is expected to be completed by 6am on Friday, November 22nd. Temporary traffic control signs and movable message boards will be installed along the detour route to guide travelers. Delays are expected and drivers are asked to seek alternative routes or find alternative routes. Please move to another time to avoid the problem if possible.
