Basar police on Thursday (November 7) recovered the body of a 24-year-old woman, identified as Purnima, who allegedly jumped into the Godavari river along with her parents near a temple town in Nirmal district on Wednesday (November 6). did.
The trio, who hail from Nizamabad, jumped into the river after they could not bear the constant harassment from two Nizamabad-based private moneylenders, officials said.
The body of the father, identified as Venu, a petty trader, was recovered from Godavari on Wednesday. The mother, Anuradha, was rescued by local fishermen on the same day, shortly after the incident occurred.
Venu reportedly borrowed some amount from two local moneylenders a few months ago to run a roadside stall. However, he suffered losses in small businesses.
Relentless harassment, intimidation and intimidation by private moneylenders pushed Venu and his family to extreme action, the official added.
A case has been registered and investigation is underway.
