Exponential growth doesn't just apply to tech or big companies or small businesses. Exponential growth applies to you and me, too.
This is one of the most influential books I have ever read. This book is only 36 pages long, but it is packed with practical insights and motivations to act. It is called “You Squared by Price Pritchett” and it is a manual for making breakthroughs in business and life.
“You don't have to be satisfied with working hard and making incremental changes,” says Pritchett. “Instead, you can create explosive improvements in performance with less effort and at an accelerated rate.” How?
To summarize:
Stop trying – Trying hard only gets you small rewards. Quantum shift is a better solution that requires less effort.
Ignore conventional approaches – Breakthroughs require radical changes in behavior. They require subtlety over effort, simplicity over complexity, new paradigms, and fresh perspectives.
Think outside the box – Breakthroughs require the unconventional. Rethink how you think. Push the boundaries of what's possible.
Don’t doubt – act as if success is certain and move forward boldly.
Focus on the ends, not the means – It’s important to clearly picture what you want to achieve. Solutions will emerge. Draw the map as you go.
Rely on invisible forces – When you clearly visualize what you want to achieve and move towards it with confidence, unexpected and unknown resources will materialize.
Choose different rules – You can’t avoid risks, you can only choose which risks to take. Believe in yourself and take risks.
Belief in the power of pursuit – Dreams begin to materialize into reality when you pursue them, because the world works differently when you go after what you want.
Seek to fail – If you aren’t willing to fail, you’ll never get the opportunity to test the limits of what you can achieve.
Be uncomfortable – Big changes will take you out of your comfort zone, and if you're not feeling uncomfortable, then the risk you're taking is probably not worth it to you.
Open your gifts – You have unused gifts waiting to help you make breakthroughs. Open them now!
Fall in love – Create a dramatic dream that goes beyond what is “rational” and make it into an “epic obsession.”
Take action before you're ready – Instead of preparing for a breakthrough, make the breakthrough first and then fine-tune as you go.
Look Within for Opportunities – Everything you need comes from within you, not from outside of you.
